    Assalamalaikum Wa Rahmathullah
    Ramadaan Kareem Dr Bilal,
Dr Bilal, I have three questions.
    1. Can you give some practical tips on how to sleep less.
    2. Is Laylatul Qadr only one night ? I ask this because different countries have a difference about 2 days. Therefore, Laylatul Qadr might be in one country but not in other. However if its common for the whole world and taking into account laylatul qadr falls in one of the odd nights, then it must be the odd day common for the whole world. Can you please provide your view on this
    3.  Lastly, What are your views regarding the teachings of Imam Abu Hamid Ghazali ?
    Jazak Allah Khair

Ramadan Kareem, Sheikh Bilaal. May Allah protect you and your family.

  3. Rashid Majid says:

    Salam,
Brother Bilal could you please just clarify something for me.
Is paying transaction fees for sending or receiving money via paypal or google checkout haram?
I.e For paypal I pay 3.4% + 20p for any amount below 1500GBP. If the amount is above 1500GBP then i pay 1.4% of the total amount .
These payment service providers offer a service by allowing me to utilise their websites in order to receive or send funds but I found out 73 types of riba exist. Is this a form of haram riba?
JazakhumAllahkhairun and May Allah accept All your striving in Ramadan. Ameen.
    Salam

    Assalam’alaikum, Dr Bilal Philip.
I would like to know an authentic site where I can read Quran Tafsir in English.  Right now I am reading Tafsir Ibn Kathir from http://www.qtafsir.com.
Jazakumullah Khairan for the wonderful work you are doing.

  5. Rashid Majid says:

Chapter 18: THE RECKONING ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT IS A FACT

    Book 040, Number 6871:

‘A’isha reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: He who is taken to account on the Day of Resurrection is in fact put to torment. I said: Has Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, not said this: ‘He will be made subject to an easy reckoning” (Ixxxiv. 8)? Thereupon he said: (What it implies) is not the actual reckoning, but only the presentation of one’s deeds to Him. He who is thoroughly examined in reckoning is put to torment.

    Book 040, Number 6872:

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ayyub with the same chain of transmitters.

    Book 040, Number 6873:

‘A’isha reported Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Everyone who is reckoned thoroughly is undone. I said: Allah’s Messenger, has Allah not called (reckoning) as easy reckoning? Thereupon he said.. It implies only presenta- tion of (one’s deeds to Him), but if one is thoroughly examined in reckoning, he in fact is undone.

    Book 040, Number 6874:

‘A’isha reported Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who is examined thoroughly In reckoning is undone.

Does this mean the other billions of muslims are going to hell? Because many of us have committed sins and I am very worried.

  9. Rashid Majid says:

    Salam brother Bilal,
I know you are a busy person and possibly starting to get fed up with blogging or maybe just me. Could you please answer my last 2 questions and also the following question which is important.
I purchased a book called exemplary principles of Allah names by Sheikh Uthaymeen. It has a list of the 99 names of Allah. It doesn’t however explain the meaning of each of Allah names. Could you please recommend me a book which explains the meaning of each of the 99 names of Allah. I don’t want to buy a book which has deviant perceptions about Allahs names.

Jazak and May Allah reward you for your answers.
    Salam brother.

  10. Amira says:

    Assalamu alaikum
I stumbled across this page and was  bit surprised to read “Ramadan Kareem” this greeting is not from Sunnah, it has become very popular in Gulf in recent years. Sheikh Uthaymeem has explained about this greeting in details
    Walaikum assalam

  11. Salman says:

    Salamualikum Sheikh,
What is the ruling on Isbaal? I know there are many difference of opinion on the subject. I would like to know what is the most correct ruling according to the evidences, especially for those in the west.
    Jazakallah Kher.

  12. Dr Bilal says:

    wa alaykum salaam,
Yes it is a popular phrase and its meaning is fine, but it is not from the Sunnah. However, it is not bid’ah as such, especially if what the sahaabah said is also said (Taqabbalallaahu minnaa wa minkum), and even that cannot be confirmed approved by the Prophet (pbuh) but we still use it. It is merely a greeting like “hayyaakallaah”, “Kayfal Haal”, “Allahu yusallimak” used commonly in Ramadaan, which are popular among the Arabs.

  13. Dr Bilal says:

    wa alaykum salaam,
Tafseer Ibn Katheer is about as authentic a site as you will find. It is the most authentic Tafseer in English.

  14. Dr Bilal says:

Taqabbalallaahu minnaa wa minkum – Ramadaan mubaarak and may Allah protect you and yours.

  15. Dr Bilal says:

    wa alaykum salaam Salman.
The most correct ruling is that it is haraam as clearly stated in the hadeeth “What is below the ankle is in the Hellfire.”

  16. yassir says:

    aslamualaikum sheikh,
Can you please explain to me what the ruling is on garments below the ankles. Is it haraam only when it does as a show of pride and arrogance. And does it apply to all items of clothing, and how many rulings are there. And are the lower garments allowed to be folded up if above or over the ankles.

    jazakallah

  17. Dr Bilal says:

wa alaykum salaam. Wearing garments below the ankle is haraam. The ruling is appilicable to all forms of garments for men. Folding up trousers should be permanent and not only for salaat. But doing that is better then not doing it at all.
